We decided what we want purse in science by what truly interest us and wanting the urge to fix it. For starters, when pursing anything in science you have to find what’s your passion and why you want to study that specify topi. Secondly, you then do your research and see what’s already been discovered and what else needs to figure out what else needs to be solved with that specific topic. Lastly, then you put the work in, and this is when you honestly say to yourself you want to make that specific topic in science your life’s work, or you can start over and try something else. Overall, despite what every you choose to purse in science we can definitely reconcile the knowledge we can from scientific pursuits with colonial way that knowledge can be developed, constructed, and used.

With the first step, finding what interest you over all in science is very important because that what kicks starts you to conduct your research. A good example from our previous readings is when Marie from Radioactive moved away from home attending a college in France to discover she have a love for physics and working with elements in the periodic table. She had found something she was genuinely interested in and what you to more research on for the rest of her life. That’s why is important to find what you want to purse in science because it will help eliminate the trouble of trying you find something to purse in science. In addition, having a good solid topic of what you want to do in science referring to the first step in very important because that’s the bread and butter of your research.

Now to go in the second step of pursing your topic in science comes the meat after you have chosen what exactly you want to do. As you conduct your research on the topic you can to see what’s honestly the problem and who have contributed with trying to solve this problem. In Radioactive, Marie had the privilege of marrying a physicist that could help her with her discoveries of polonium and radium. During those times woman weren’t allowed to step foot in a lab without a male being present, but she was lucky enough to conduct her research alongside with her husband. All that to say, she was able to discover the ends ad out of the science she was studying and was able to conduct her research. That’s why is very important to get background information before putting in the work when pursing the science, you are interested in.

So, we can go into the final step on pursing the science you are interested in and that’s putting in the work. When I say putting in the work, I mean doing your own experiments and testing out different solutions you come up with to save the problem. The best way to conduct an experiment is using the scientific method, it’ll never fail you and has been used for a very long time in science. Like Marie in Radioactive, she was able to make her discovered but conducting experiments to see the ends and outs of the elements that she discovered. Even though working with these unstable elements costed her life is was still worth it. So, the same goes for anyone’s else discover something new in science it requires sacrifice by any means necessary. But if it’s not what you expected it to be you can always change it. In conclusion, this is how we can reconcile the knowledge we can from scientific pursuits with colonial way that knowledge can be developed, constructed, and used.
